There are already 83 hackney licences in Cherwell and the Cherwell Valley Hackney Association feels that the council's licensing department can not cope with this amount and that there would be an even greater problem if the licences were increased.

Remind how much extra it would cost the council to license 103 cabs, or 153 cabs, over the existing 83. :?

And as Cherwell are looking to go to WAVs, how many extra cabs are going to be licensed anyway? :?

I don't know why either.

BUT I will bet that the number of staff within licensing doesn't increase to provide adequate enforcement when numbers increase.

If there are more folks able to do legal pick ups then the council shouldn't need more enforcement staff, they should need a few less.

And if you believe that, you probably believe that de-classifying Cannabis led to a reduction in Crime rates.

And I suppose you believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny too.

I can't understand what all the fuss is about? I was under the impression the general concensus among quantity control restrictionists is that councillors know best? When we get a council thats wants to change its policy to what it sees as a benefit to the public, then these same individuals say, "councillors don't know best"? It would be nice to have a little consitency from these people.
