so the chamber of commerce are moving against thier own? It always amazes me when I see the reasons for deregulation, a policy I am staunchly against, I believe in more regulation but removal of limit by numbers. A good taxi trade at any price is excellent for commerce, do they realise the implications for deregulation? thier customers and buisness visitors approaching the city getting in old vehicles badly worn with drivers who dont know where they are going? because thats what deregulation means. Exeter will be a worse place to do buisness. they should not interfere in something they dont understand. |

I think Mr Yorkie they mean de-limit when they say deregulation. Lets face it even those high ranking busmen get confused. But I think they have a point. Fares reflect costs, and if your costs include a £40,000 plate, then fares are going to be higher than they should.

£40,000 for a plate or £40,000 for a vehicle ..................... seems the same to me. |

What about when you have to pay £40,000 for them both? But in the next council they only have to buy the vehicle. Are you really saying the drivers will swallow the plate costs out of the kindnest of their hearts? |

VALE OF WHITE HORSE ARE IN THE TOP 5 FOR TAXI FARES ,THE AREA IS DERISTRECTED WITH NO AGE LIMITS ON THE VEHICLES,AND THEY ARE NOT HAVING WAVS FORCED ON THEM. |

We are de-limited, and we have an owner driver running an E55AMG on the fleet (not me, I am poor, I only have a 53 plate V220). We set our own fares too. The Council don't. |
