How many LTi vehicles have Leicester licensed since they removed the PCO conditions of fitness?

Today I spoke with Leicester licensing and ask the LO to furnish me with the the details of all new vehicles licensed since they removed the PCO conditions of fitness. I also wrote or phoned every licensing body that adheres to the PCO conditions of fitness and asked them if they planned to license the new Mercedes? Their responses and that of Leicester will be published here.

Regards

JD

Coventry council have informed me that they are aware of the new Mercedes but as yet they have not been approached by distributors KPM or anyone else wishing to license the vehicle. The Spokesman said the ball is in the court of the distributors and they cannot make a decision until the council has had the opportunity to view the vehicle.

Edinburgh has also said they will license the vehicle providing it meets their conditions of fitness.

It would appear the Distributors are dragging their feet but to be fair to KPM it is early days yet. However someone from KPM should be making arrangements for one of their vehicles to do the rounds in the handful of councils that adhere to the pco conditions.

Every council I've spoken to so far has said the same thing about lack of application. Surely KPM must realise that in order to have their vehicle accepted nationally they are going to have to present it for scrutiny. So get your finger out KPM and start making contact with these councils who are eager to see your vehicle strutting its stuff.

Would it not have been more feasible to ask the abserlute minority councils when they are going to abolish the PCO restrictions and come into the modern world instead

These guys love the shape of the traditional black cab and an earthquake wouldn't budge their mentality.

When it goes to Liverpool I suspect it will be knocked back on the grounds that it is too long, its already licensed as private hire and possibly the sliding doors but I hope I am wrong.
