According to the City LO's there are 364 days in a year.

For the last 25 years my drivers badge has expired on the 22nd August.

But I understand my next badge (annual issue here) will expire on the 21st August 2010.

And after that on the 20th August, etc ,etc.

Why? Fuctifino!

I intend to ask if Christmas Day is on 24th December this year.

is there a discount for early renewal like here?

2 weeks b4 expiry - £80
after that - £120

what i cant understand is its my badge and ive paid for it, so why if i stop driving do i have to hand it in? what if i decide to go back to driving after 3 months, do i have to re-apply?

It's your fault for telling them you've stopped driving before your badge expiry date.

You've paid the license fee for your driver's license until the expiry date.

It's up to you whether you take a one, three, five or ten month break from driving.

Do you hand in your driver's badge/license when you go on holiday?

My good mates Ali, Mohammed, Hussain, Javed & Ahmed don't when they go to Pakistan for months on end to see their families!!

Around here the only time anyone is asked to surrender their hackney/ private hire driving licence while it is still in force. .. is when... they are applying for the dole...

I wonder if they are doing it this way to increase increase income without the need to increase fees.

Cos every one day short is in effect a increase in income. :-k
