All,

I am a private hire driver! Well done lol

On Friday night i had approx 25/30 bookings - great :)

From them bookings there were a few from the town centre(Hanley). I lost quite a few bookings due to PH/HC picking up my fare (around 10 dud jobs).

The last job of the night got to me most. I was given a job from the town centre around 5am going to the area where i live, as i pulled outside the fast food outlet, which was closed, there was one person outside talking to a HC, i used ringback and couldn't help laughing to myself as this guy tried to answer the phone he fell on his arse lol then got into the HC and he pulled off. As i was going home after that job i followed the HC to the same area, until my turning to my street.

So i lost my fare which would have taken me home, but also the HC went the long way around too.

This has been happening more than normal over the last few weeks so i had emailed the licensing department and have not recieved a reply. I am getting so frustrated as i sit 2 mins away from the Town Centre waiting for the radio just for others to pick up and over charge my fares.......

The HC's aren't doing anything wrong if the people are flagging them as they drive past. Whilst times are quiet, as they are now, this is going to keep occurring. HC's who are not parked on ranks will drive around to get flaggers it's how they earn a living and you can't complain if they act in a legitimate manner.

Perhaps this guy will learn a valuable lesson, if he remembers travelling the long way around, and maybe next time he will wait for PH vehicle that he has booked, who knows.

Anyway good luck and I hope you don't have too many bogies in the future

It would seem to me that 10 duds  is an awful lot and something that you need to keep an eye on. Your office might be sloppy with the work that they are taking OR are they trying to make out to their drivers that they have more work than they actually do

Maybe your office should arrange for the punters to pay by credit card, or arrange a return price they can pay on the outward journey.

But no shows/jobs are all part and parcel of this wonderful trade of ours.

Years ago I'd feel sorry for you, now I don't, why? because a PH has become a real problem to the trade with touting on a mass scale, I know how it feels because I did 11 years PH and it's frustrating.

All but one time for me that is, I had 3 duds in a row a few days before Xmas one year, as I get bloody minded about things I threw one and went home, straight down the pub where the Xmas raffle was being held and won £100, bought everyone in there a drink with it and went home with £50 more than I went out with, sadly it wasn't reciprocated the following year, it just got binned by the winner.
