a lot of the hackney drivers and plate renters are ex private hire in york you can rent a plate and then put it on your car as long as you make a bill of sale out showing the plate owner as the new owner of the car its ridiculous really everybody knows who the car belongs to because they have run the car on private hire in their own name then go on to rent a plate using the same vehicle

Didn't you used to do that?

the problem with hackney in york is the big entrance fee either buy a plate for 40000 or rent a plate for 170 pounds a week take the fuel to earn that money and it becomes too big a chunk of money i try to run my businesses with low overheads so i dont have to weld my self in the car for 12 hours a day 7 days a week

That £500 doesn't include radio.

Add, say, £150 for fuel leaves a driver having to take £650 before he earns a penny.

Nice thought to start their week eh?

and when i rented a radio i thought £40 every monday was a lot, to say nothing of the thinly-veiled threats about paying two weeks rent when going on holiday "or we may not have a radio for you when you come back"

it was only held in with 2 pozi-screws, soon came out
