I think I know the answare is "yes" I like to know if I am right


A Council as just Put a £10 fee for Re-tests, with out consultation and with out advertsing it in the paper. now I think there have to advertse the fee am I right please. #-o :idea:

No, I don't think so. They have to advertise changes to vehicle plate fees and operator license fees, changes to the tariff sheet and that is about it. i don't think they even have to advertise drivers badge fees.

It would have been good if they did advertise the re-test, but it's 50/50 on legality if they didn't.

However they should have consulted with the trade and councillors should have approved it.

around here it would probably have been covered under "delegated authority".

Charles I would think that they could charge the cost of a "Test" (Driving, Knowledge, Vehicle - you don't tell us) which I suspect is more than £10.00 but they offer a much reduced rate for a "Re-test".

Would you prefer that they charge the full amount again?

I suspect that as with meter fares, the full amount is payable, a discount can be given.

Depends if it's part of your licence fee, some councils include tests fees in the licence fee.

They could charge you £5 per fault like ours do if your car fails.
