On saturday i was happily bouncing round town, all £4 fares, by the £70 mark id done 45 miles, then i got a BHX, great! (really?) a 50 mile round trip for £32.50, plus a half hour delay, id have been better off not taking that and just doing town work

luckily she gave me £40

one old cabbie said he didnt want a school run "cos i might miss an airport".........pmsl, my school run pays more than the fixed airports and i have 5 returns a week (10 trips) for fewer miles, last week i had a BHX of my own (not thru the base) and he was on the motorway heading the same way so i cruised past and waved at him, i had my door signs on, i can bet he told everyone, and i charge more than the base!

Distance = less £ per mile. My place to Heathrow=210 mile round trip, fare £120 if you're lucky and 5 hours drive, = 57p/mile, £24 per hour.

Local trips = £1 per mile. In the same 5 hours could earn more than the 12p a mile profit on the Heathrow run.

Ive had £4 for half a mile (fixed £4 fare in town)

You cannot be serious, £120 for 210 miles, even I would take £250, plus any airport escape fee

Brighton to Heathrow 68 miles 136 round trip minimum £100!
