The Staffordshire county council requirements for simply carrying kids to school are getting beyond a joke, extra DBS, extra badges, extra costs, seriously looking at getting out of it all now

Add it all to the quote, if you get the work great, if you don't, so be it.

I stopped doing county work a long time ago, to much form filling then someone putting a stupid price in, so didn't get the contract anyway, a waste of my time, there's loads more work out there, I don't miss county council work.

LA Contracts are getting beyond a joke and they go beyond taxi licensing requirements,

Up here you need D1 level Medical, Passenger Airbags, (not always easy to find in MPVs or Minibuses), and a PVG....these things are over and above general taxiing/PH requirements...

A few years ago you submitted just Two A4 sheets of paper for to tender, one with your details on it and the other the Price..Simple.

Now it takes around 84 A4 Sheets of online form filling and Paper hard copy to do the same job...you have to have around 30 different policicies to complete from Diversity through to Environmental, about a weeks worth of effort to complete such forms and with absolutely no guarantee you'll win any contract. and if you straddle two Authorities like I do then it doubles up that the amount of paperwork and online processing and where both LA systems and requirement are completely different.

God knows why they Dont have just one National Database with one Application that can be used to apply to the LA your conveniently geographically placed to tender for Contracts with.

Yes, it does put people off, but on the plus side it thins out the competition to an extent.

Kent Council are just going over to some portal gateway tendering service. I really can't be arsed to read any of it, let alone attend a half day seminal to find out how it works. It's as much as I can do to understand how bookface works! I'm packing it all in, it's not worth the hassle.

It'll end up like the London buses scenario where it was quite a few small companies when it was all privatised and a few large ones. Now it's the few BIG groups and only 3 small independents. The paperwork is just too much.
