Slight increase?

Quote:
Every licensed vehicle requires a compliance test. This test is required to be undertaken by the Councils authorised garage. The contract expired on the 31st March 2021, but the garage kindly offered to extend this until 16th April 2021 to allow us to undertake an exercise in inviting eligible garages to tender for the contract. This has now been completed and we are happy to report that we shall be continuing with the same garage for the next 3 years. There has been a slight increase in price which is detailed below.

Compliance test only £27.50 +vat............(was £17.50)

compliance test + mot test £35.00 total..........(total was £22.50)

All procedures are to remain the same.

Be grateful you got half price MOTs in the first place.

Still a third off.

Thurrock council does not charge for yearly compliance test. they do mot for 25.00, so i always do mot and compliance once a year with them, can get taxi mot at any garage but still have to have compliance test at council yard so might aswell do both with them for 25.00.
they charge for 6 monthly compliance test at 45.00 on vehicles over 5 years old, once a year on vehicles up to 5 years old then twice a year on vehicles over 5 years old, then 3 times per year on vehicles over 8 years old

Our Annual Vehicle installments are currently £216, but that Includes MOT and Compliance and those prices are not shown individually so I've no idea of the breakdown costs.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Under the Freedom of Information Act
Could you please Provide a copy of the advert placed in a local newspaper, setting out the variation proposed to the increase in the charges for testing of vehicles.

Kind regards
Wanna

Remember this?
Lichfield District Council is facing a £4,000 refund bill after a dispute over rises in taxi licences.
The local authority put up the fee, which covers the cost of vehicle checks and licence plates, but failed to advertise the changes.
As a result they now face repaying 123 drivers the money they have been overcharged in the past three years.

I do but they demanded our fee receipts as proof - they knew who they had charged

I told our new LO but she knows best
