Must a "collective" of 10 hacks have any sort of office within the LA or can they run virtually?

HC "Operators" need no Licence and no premises - as long as they don't have any PH.

Each Driver is his/her own Operator, so a central clearing system can allocate jobs to them.

Believe it’s a no in Scotland, but down here it is as stated above.

Would make sense if we just got rid of PH and everyone was Hackney then we could do away with all this operator nonsense.

As long as we can still set our own prices and not rely on the council to set them. We are above the council rate and need to look at a further increase in April due to the increase in the minimum wage.

Surely your school rates are your choice as are any work out of your LA?

(good job county dont know hacks are tied to meter rates when some runs are 70% dead miles)

It is village to village where we benefit. We can charge for the dead miles to get to a village 5 miles away for the 1 mile journey to the next village where the hackneys can only charge for the 1 mile.

Surely working for the council is PH? Meter rates can't apply.

There was a school run round my way where the lad lived 8 miles from the nearest town, then 12 miles to school, 18 dead miles back to town twice a day. If the lad didn't go to school (which was often) then we'd do 16 miles dead and not get a penny for ur trouble. Sometimes he'd go to school then vanish, in which case we had 36 dead miles and nothing for it. The council wondered why so many operates chucked the job back every few months. In the end nobody would do the job.
