I was reading some of our 2021 policy and noted that it stated that all meters must be calendar controlled.
Now I am not against this but not one of the Hackney cars licensed in our area has actually got a calendar controlled meter. When I pointed this out they didn't seem to know that the cars didn't already have this.

If they don't want to enforce the policy then best they change it.

Having calendar control meters in my view is a sensible policy, so I'm quite surprised your council actually has such a policy.

So was I. They said they were going to look at it next time they review the policy.
I think they should keep it.

calender controlled meters are reliant on the accuracy of their clocks which in my experience aren't great.

Most, if not all, allow the Driver to make small (2 or 3 minutes) changes, often limited to once a week or fortnight.

had a taxi home from hospital once, a Burton on trent car, his tom tom was stuck on his car radio screen and his meter was hanging by its wires near the floor
