Does your Council have a policy of restricting the number of Hackney Carriage Vehicle licences?

Do you not think the anwer is to increase rank space rather than decrease cabs? :?

It's what you will be paying when the train folks can work a way to charge you.

As per the airports.

we have a contract (i believe) which was produced 2 decades ago, railways consulted the apprporiate commitee at that time. needless to say the commitee members had limited command of english, and in meetings just nodded every so often. nobody has seen it in recent modern time.

we have reported flying to british transport police and taxi licensing dept, no prosecutions have ever accurred. taxi licensing dept are not interested because in an agreement between us and railways, the taxi licensing dept are not allowed onto the rank (which is private land) to inspect cars, hence take plates off. therfor they ignore any problems we have especially regards illegal plying for hire. do british transport police or railways have the power to prosecute???? anyone

regarding the disabled issue, they (midlamnd mainline) agreed to certain changes and said they implement it as soon as they get permission from network rail (the land owners). but unfortunately i have heard on the grapevine that midland mainline have lost the franchise and stagecoach will takeover in november. can anyone confirm this?????

we use to have no restricted at the railway, but as normal certain indviduals think the grass is greener on the other side, and forced it open to everyone, with no increase in facilities. as a result numbers have doubled and rising, work is about the same, we are parked on double yellow lines due to not enough rank space. the only person to benefit from opening it up is the midland mainline whose revenue has more than doubled in 4 years

we have not paid them anything this year (permits are valid from aprill to aprill) until something gets sorted, but we are afraid if push comes to shove they will kick us off and replace us with private hire (and there plenty of firms capable, willing and waiting in the wings if it happens)

all the admin and enforcemnt side is left to the taxi union, midland mainline are only intersted in how much reveue they can raise. do cost of railway permits have to reflect the cost of leasing the to midland mainline??????? how easy is it to lease this land directly from network rail??????????

Taxi licensing are talking out of their rears, and I doubt there is another rank in the country that can't be checked on by the local LOs.

As for taking their plates off, that's a tad strange, because as soon as the vehicle leaves the station it is acting illegally. For that matter in my opinion it's acting illegally on the rank as well.

As for the transport police prosecuting, yes they are the ones to act. The cars picking up there without a permit are tresspassing.

Get the local press involved.

That's not as easy as they might like you to believe.

Ah. So neither really apply in my everyday world. 8)

I think the train stations struggle to get enough taxi's at the best of times, as in today, the que was still going strong at 1AM.

I've never heard of any talk here in London of charges to use Stations, I think they realise they need us more than we need them. :D
