first post...so go easy !.

having spoke to my local council, they ( south ayrshire ) are putting in force from OCT 2005, that ALL cars that carry passengers MUST BE PLATED ! regardless of what it is...limo / chauffer ect..... AND ALL DRIVERS MUST HAVE A TAXI BADGE !!..EVEN LIMOS .

i myself have been driving private hire taxis for 10 yrs now, but i am in the process of buying 2 cars to do chauffer work here in south ayrshire.
so yeh... i,m a bit [edited by admin] off that i have to plate my 2 cars.
and yes... they are gonna look like a private hire taxis now

but to be fair....even the friggin limos will have em as well :P .
the lady i spoke to said that this WILL be enforced come oct 2005.

my question is...will the limo cars, and older cars used for chauffering, will they be enforced with the 5 YEAR age limit the same as private hire cars do ??? can anyone help with this ?

i will keep you all posted on this as it unfolds.

ps...great bloody forum here....found it by chance... 10/10

Well some LAs allow chauffeur cars and the like not to display plates and also be exempt from age rules even if they are licensed.

You should ask your LA if they have any plans in this regard, but it's perhaps not too late to change things if they haven't planned any exemptions.
