Hi again JD

The Hackneys are from Arun District - specifically mainly Bognor Regis, (their LO is Glen James), who says that although they are not happy, and despite many complaints, it is Chichester District Council problem, and they cannot / will not act.

The local rag is indeed the Chichester Observer, and I have just sent an e-mail to homerpeter@googlemail.com, giving him a copy of the letter I sent to the Licensing sub-committee, perhaps a gentle shove from them may help.

They ran a couple of articles about out of area Hacks at another venue back in July 2005 (yep - that long ago!), which came to naught, as the council were again hiding behind the private land issue.

Just a small update:

One of my colleagues spoke to a Chichester District Council solicitor yesterday, and was told that enforcement of taxi regulations was discretionary and not obligatory”.

So that’s ok then.

Jesus...........................

I would send a letter to the council asking them if there is any truth in that quote, and if that's the council's position?

Good idea Sussex.

It may help in all areas if I can somehow get an "official" position from the Council.

I will keep you posted as to the response (if any!), - and thanks for the interest.

If you ask them under the FoI act, then it's illegal for them not to reply.
