With no due offence to the "Original plate owners" or the "Rebel want to be owners"; The hackney plates are the property of The City Of York Council and thus belong to the Citizens of York. For the purpose of making transporation of it's citizens available by Hackney Carriage. No one owns these plates in reality and the monetary value has become placed on them because of slack, incompetent management of them, by the employed servants of York Council.

My values and inner feelings towards this whole matter is, Deregulation will have to be implemented because why should the Rate payers of York fund this ridiculous scenario any further.

If York are to eventually deregulate, they would do the trade & citizens of York some good if they adopted a controlled deregulation policy as in Manchester.

There are plenty on TDO that will disagree with that, so I'll just get my WWII tin hat.

Back in a mo.

I would rather they issue them to the people on the waiting list, that way I get one sooner

I agree, and then no-one gains via acting outside of the law.

They already operate a managed growth policy.

You are correct, I tried hackneying and didn't like it, would rather have PH any day, I was going to sell it like everyone else did, but if they de regulate it would be worthless, which would scupper plans by some of your colleagues who had the same idea, but if they are worth nowt' no one would buy.

How right you are ! Nobody will have to buy one and nobody will have to rent one either !!!! Someone gonna come unstuck paying money for multiple plates and vehicles, that nobody wants or has to rent !! Ouch !! surely that got to hurt !!

Even in a de-restricted area people will still want to rent and if there are only a few plated vehicles available to rent then people will still make decent money from the practise

You're not wrong there ! But fortunately the drivers proved to the licensing committee that they are the lawful owners of the vehicle and prevented 'ex' plate owners from stealing their vehicles. Some people will go to any lengths !!
