Original post says it was applied for on 1st October.

Actually it says that the DBS posted the certificate on October !st. It has taken 20 days for the post office to deliver it.

Both DBS certificates have now been received by the driver.
I was talking to one of the licensing people today and it was confirmed that as stated in the letter we received from the Council regarding the result of an internal audit, the licensing team have been told that they can't issue any drivers license under any circumstances without first seeing the DBS certificate.
Another interesting point is that ALL the council staff must now have a DBS certificate to work at the Council. However some have still not even applied. None have been told that they can't work until the certificate has been received.

Grandad Enjoy this while you can...it seems I was wrong ..the system in Sefton has change to the same as yours..and they do not like it..but they will make sure that any driver having problems will still be able to work..

Here's a little tip I use, when you've filled your forms in and given them back to the Council wait a few days then ring your local Police HQ up and ask to be put through to the DBS officer. Speak nice to him and tell him your papers are on their way to him. I did this last year and my DBS came back within 7 working days. I filled the forms in on the Thursday and the forms were on the mat the following Saturday.

You fill the forms in, the Council send them to Liverpool, Liverpool send them to your local Police HQ who do the searches, they send all the information back to Liverpool who then put it onto nice paper and send it back to you.

I handed my application to the council end of November and got the DBS certificate back last week, three weeks total.

So it's a bit hit and miss, some done straight away others taking months. I wonder if they're randomly selecting applications for an in depth investigation :?:
