Can I just ask what if the shoe was on the other foot and a 'real taxi' was hired when it was not parked on a rank nor flagged down but parked illegally on the public highway with it's light on so as to ply for hire :?

How about if Real taxi drivers handed out leaflets on a saturday night, telling punters "how to get home for free?"

That would be viewed by the police as incitement. [-X

Within the real taxi drivers area? A parking offence, maybe.

Legal hire? yes.

This is precisely why the trade H/C or PH as a whole is in the mess that it is in..... Jo Publique doesn't give a Sh*t!! Until things go awry as they do....... :-|
Through bad Government legislation and over saturation, the trade, which is its own worst enemy, has been denigrated as a whole into a low income, low esteem job/profession?? Which to my mind will never recover to the decent level you could earn 10 years ago, sad as that is. That may be hard to swallow by some here, but if we are honest about it, this is what has happened. There are some here that will disagree, probably because the over saturation has not hit them yet, but it will come and there is nothing that you will be able to do about it, unless you get organised..... Which I seriously doubt....I know having tried. Now I sit back and see them moan, groan and suffer....

That would be because it is classed as unskilled and unskilled labour doesn't warrant the highest pay.

So when is a 'real taxi' within it's area in breach of laws and regulations with regards to hirings :?

if parked its "for hire" light shouldnt be on

then again, driving and using a handheld mobile phone, driving on road cross-hatching, stopping in a yellow box junction, throwing fag ends out the window and 80mph on a motorway are all illegal, just try getting the cops to take interest though....

Actually Toots it's classed as semiskilled but used to be considered skilled...
But that's neither here nor there..... :-|

Not really interested in general law breaking. I was curious as to when a 'real taxi' would be in breach of it's laws/conditions when plying for hire within it's own licenced area. I do believe that 'real taxis' can only ply for hire whilst on a rank or on the move unless of course it's been pre-booked
