A lot of stuff on council's websites is just spin and PR and has to be taken with a massive pinch of salt - it's Nidge's bollox factor again.

I mean if they don't hand out taxi plates anyway, then the first claim is just self-righteous garbage, and if any new plates are just given to WAVs and the current fleet can use saloons then this is just hypocrisy.

Ditto the PH swivel seats - I'm assuming the claims relate to new licenses rather than relicensing, since this is usually the weak and hypocrtical way that many LAs work. :?

Anyway, if this 1 taxi per 10,000 people is true then West Lothian must have a population of over a million and a half if it has 159 taxis. Sounds implausible.

I would ask the council to prove that there is no un-met demand.

And I would ask you Government in that gold plated HQ of their's, to get off their back sides and sort out a similar sort of action plan, as we have done down here.

It may not be perfect, but it's a little step in the right direction.
