He can be prosecuted for sitting on a rank, whilst not in a taxi. :?

The lines usually relate to the parking conditions either side of the rank.

However if there are no parking restrictions either side of the rank, then the rank should be painted white, if not yellow.

I think.

The warden might be up on some kind of verbal assault charge then...cos if the traffic warden cannot issue tickets then I would reckon he or she has no powers to harangue or berate anyone that appears to be legally parked... :?

By stiff, did I mean he berated or harangued? I didn't but I see it could be interpreted that way. He's actually very diplomatic, in my experience of listening to him, he points out that it's a taxi rank (even though it's not regulated) and asks them to respect our right to free access to it. It's all in the authoritative tone he uses, and as most of the public aren't aware of what a "real" rank looks like, they, in the main, take his advice and park behind it.

So in his case, I make an exception to my "all traffic wardens are little hitlers" stance, and in turn apologise to you for any misunderstanding.

I was under the impression that a Taxi Rank had to be properly signed (including the road markings) or it is not a Taxi Rank. Therefore a Taxi Rank must have double yellow lines. Further, even if parking is "De-Criminalised" in your Manor, it remains "Criminal" on a Taxi Rank. This may mean that a Parking Penalty may not be issued but a Court Summons can be.

As a result, a Paking Attendant may not take action but a Traffic Warden or Police Officer can.

The huge numbers of the "blue badge brigade" are specifically banned from parking on taxi ranks.

You must realise that only "Just" men or women Park on Taxi Ranks -

"I'm JUST going to the (*delete as appropriate) Bank/ Post Office/ Barbers/ Hairdressers/ Kindergarten (posh Areas) Play School (not so posh)/ Parking fine Office (Didn't learn where I can Park)/ Coffee shop/ Tea Shop/ Bookies/ Church for Confesssion (trying to put things right but still don't know where I can Park)/ Other.

These JUST reasons are often accompanied by a self time limit

"For a (*delete as appropriate) Half a second/ a second/ 2 seconds/ half a tick/ a tick/ half a mo/ a mo/ half a minute/ a minute/ 2 minutes/ 5 minutes/ (and for the horilogically challenged) Not long.

As to the unattended Taxi "any Officer authorised by the Council (or other legitimate Authority) or Constable (which includes Traffic Wardens)". It does not allow Parking Attendants uless they are authorised by the Authority.

Taxi ranks

If a rank has no double yellow line on it, and a ordinary motorist parks on the rank, can he be prosecuted and if so under what?

Moreover, can a cab driver be done for leaving his cab unattended by a traffic warden?
