If you want that reduced to about £100 for two years, then we can can some fun with your council via TDO.

Why would he want it reducing? He is leaving the trade.

Be that as it may, but anyone 'leaving the trade, should keep their driver's license going just in case they return.

I can see a rather arbitrary pricing structure here that is blatant profiteering.

Why does the vehicle re-test cost double after 48 hours? This cannot be justified in the breakdown of costs.

Quote:
Change of Business (Sell Car and Transfer Plate) £309.00

They should be nailed for that. Cannock Chase charges £1 for a transfer of interest - the cost of the sheet of A4 plus the ink. Why would anyone pay it anyway? You'd be better off handing in the plates and the new owner paying for new ones.

I can see an FOI request coming here along these lines:

All the fees were copied and pasted from the Wyre Forest website.

CRB is more than Birmingham and London.

Licensing officer says it is to cover admin.

Time and a half after midnight now Brummie Cabby.
Making a trip to Broad Street fom kiddy town centre £39 instead of £26.

I would like to see the fees reduced.
I think that they are taking the p155.
It does seem as though they are using the Taxi Trade as some kind of cash cow to pay for their other mistakes (Icelandic bank being one).
They have deregulated without making more room for Taxis to stand.
I suppose everyone has some kind of experience of that one though.
especially Brummie Cabbie, I have seen your mates queuing to get onto New Street.

Does anyone know of a licensing authority which gives refunds on partially used licences upon surrender of such licence? :?: :?:

I was told yesterday that Solihull MBC apparently give, or did give, refunds on a partially used licence upon surrender of the licence.

I know someone who had such a refund years ago, but you need to check with Solihull MBC if they still do such refunds.

And that's an extremely valid point Mr TX04 JON!!

I have known many drivers who have done this & 'burnt their boats' only to go through the onerous process of getting their licensed drivers badge back a few months later.

Thanks Brummie Cabbie, but I have had it with Kidderminster.
I am doing your knowledge right now.
Have been doing it for over a year, have got until Dec 31st 2011 to complete it.
I have found nearly all of the two point locations, and have recorded myself saying them on mp3 so that I can play them back randomly to myself.
I am driving to Brum and doing the routes at the mo. Just got back from this mornings stint actually.
Loads of respect to the Brummie Cabbies who have done this and are now working.
It is a massive ammount of info to take in.
It seems it for me anyway, I had very little previous knowledge of Brum before starting my studies.
Do you know where the Islamic fountain of knowledge is, or Baskerville house in Digbeth (not the one in centenary square).

Thanks.

John.

You can't get JOHN as a number plate, so I settled for JON.

Don't know either, but I'm going to find out.

Can you check whether it's Islamic Fountain of Knowledge or Islamic Foundation of Knowledge?

And I would guess that Baskerville House in Digbeth is one of the new blocks of Yupee flats in that area.

Thanks Brummie Cabbie.

It is the Islamic fountain of knowledge (Balsall Heath).
Although the whole knowledge folder is riddled with mistakes, (spelling and other).

For instance:-

Trigate house (Edgbaston) - it's in Quinton.
Tile Cross trading estate (City) - surely not in the city.

There are loads of others too.

Baskerville house (Digbeth) may not even exist.

I have been informed this evening that there is a Baskerville House in Digbeth, which is apparently in Barford or Bishop Street in Digbeth & it's an old office / commercial building. I'll find out tomorrow.

Trigate House is in Quinton, corner Hagley Road West & Wolverhampton & the one in Edgbaston is Tricorn House in Francis Road corner of Hagley at Five Ways, although the postal address is 51/53 Hagley.

In England a plate can only be issued for 12 months.
