"present arrangements were not working"

i agree 100 %

thanks to the "woman " for joining the debate on this one , could we have some more views from York with relevant experience of this race problem.

still havent heard if the recent meetings between the ypha and racecourse / council have achieved anything.

im beginning to think the temporary hackney rank would make a nice pick up point as when its busy there arent any available taxis anyway ! (tongue in cheek )

for one, i stood where the council directed me to standwhich was nowhere near the hackney rank
two-i was there before the races so that the driverscould point out to customers where to pick up their taxi on the way back and so that the drivers could see where to pick up from
three-i did not give any cards out at all and i did not phone for anyone, the only people coming to me were pre booked by our office
four- not once did i wave customers from the hackney rank as i was too far away ad would not compromise the position of 659 by doing so
five- stupid grin, thats a bit personal isnt it, i smiled at our drivers going by and anyone who said hi because im a generally happy person
now whats your problem with that. and why shouldnt we be near the hackneys, are they something special, there are more private hire cars than hackney so why should they have the monopoly

Firstly you say you were nowhere near the hackneys, which you clearly were, representatives from the Council came and moved you further away from there, and when they left you simply moved back again,
then later in your rant you ask why you sholudn't be near them, can you please make up your mind, it is not that hackneys have the monopoly it is that legally they are allowed to rank, and private hire are not, or is it that 659 just do as they like, if you would like to meet me I will provide evidence of one of your cars who picked up a FLAGGER in town and when he found out the fare wanted to go to Selby said he did not have time to take him and actually dropped him on St Saviourgate rank.

you obviously have some sort of vision deficiency as i stayed where the council requested as i marked the spot so i wouldnt infringe on the limitations set by the council. they were quite satisfied with the way we worked as they monitored how we did it for at least half an hour to an hour. not one of our cars ranked up and everyone was told that they would not be allowed to wait for any length of time. as for me "ranting" i dont rant, i have a valid opinion without being insulting , which, sadly you seem incapable of. if you do have evidence of any of our drivers being flagged and picking up in town i would gladly deal with that driver should the evidence be valid. as i said before, please do not hesitate to ring our office and i can arrange to speak to you in person. i really do think that all the hackneys and private hire should meet together instead of having a "them/us" stance, we could get further with the council if we worked together

The trouble is, 659 PRIVATE HIRE are a law un to themselves,

on the last evening of the last race meeting, it was witnessed that a silver 5/6 seater may have been a Kia with 659 stickers was flagged at the traffic lights on Blossom St coming into town in the middle lane, 5 in siuts flagged down this PH and he waited at the lights whilst they got in

not rocket science but that is illeagal

hows about your mob sitting in Toff Green, 5 or 6 cars,
hows about your mob sitting in Market St and Coney St
hows about your mob sitting in St Helens Sq, why are they there

your boss dont care how these drivers earn their living, wots that 130 vehicals each paying 130 quid as subs, that equals roughly 13 thou a week, why should he care, he as other interests

and who are you, are you just the switch board operator

I wonder if he declares a minimum turnover of £878,800 per annum less VAT to HMCR?

I wonder if he declares £130,886.77p per annum as Imput VAT to HMCR?

I wonder . . . . ?

as ive said previously, i would be very happy to discuss any issues anyone has regarding 659 drivers or operations and running of the firm if only you would ring up and ask. we are trying to keep an honest firm and care very much about the behaviourof our drivers which is why we take accusations seriously as long as they are valid and not just heresay or guesswork. the bosses also care very much how drivers act and look after them, which is why the firm is as big as it is. this is also why we have a waiting list for drivers to join us. as for who i am, well if we wanted to broadcast who we were on here we wouldnt have usernames, we would all just be ourselves. if anyone saw me at the racecourse they will know exactly who i am without having to ask in this forum. i apologise if anyone is insulted or upset by anything i have put on here, and thank you for all the positive responses, i didnt think it would cause such a stir just asking the council for somewhere to pick up our lovely passengers. anyway i think the racecourse subject seems to be about exhausted as people seem to have turned to other issues now so thanks again, lovely talking to you all, keep up the good work
