Does anyone have a horse and cart and lots of straw for sale?

(must be under 3 years old to comply with Carlisles current licsning standards).

The three years - the Horse, the Cart or both?

Does Carlisle accept 1HP vehicles?

If the minimum is 1600cc, do you have to have the stomach measured?

I take it you don't have an emmissions policy in your stamping ground as the gasses are largely Methane, they won't like it (and nor will you) (though the solids are reputed to be good for rhubarb).

Grease the wheel hubs well or guess what, they won't whine, they will scream!

That's correct Captain.

And I believe that in a certain town in north Cumbria the licensed vehicle examiners also use their ears to detect whinning gearboxes.

:D :D :D

I detect a certain skoda which will be soon departing the taxi trade to be replaced by either a BMW, Merc or Chrysler 300C

I think you must have shares in Shell or the like. None of them are exactly economical on the juice :?

I thought all MOT garages had to have shaker plates when they were doing a test??

Shaker plates test all the steering joints and bearings.

In Manchester you are kept seperate from the tester until he test the vehicle (out of sight, which may be unlawful). You see him when he returns. You have to sign a disclaimer that you have left no money in the cab.The most common hack in Manchester is the TX2 (because of age limit and lack of confidence in TX4). The testers have a good scam going. They fail TX2's for a noisy engine. You ask for a decibel reading, they say they dont know, they say it is noisy compared to other vehicles. You ask for the decibel reading of other vehicles, they say they dont know. You ask for the decibel tolerence range, they say they dont have one. However this problem goes away when you drop the tester £20. Its amazing how insulating a thin crispy 20 can be. It is now so common I have been told there is a checkbox on the test sheet saying " Was £20 produced". It is so common I expect it to be there.

How can you live with such a situation, why has it not been investigated?

If you dont pay the 20, you have to pay the council 35 to re-test it. Its easier to pay the 20 than take the vehicle back. Thats why there are loads of s*it Tx's on Manchester (mostly ones that have been thrown off other cities)

Why has this scam been allowed to continue?

we can have an MOT for £3 on top of our £140 plate+taxi test but i dont, only due to a deep-seated feeling they are sure to find something to fail it on
