Since when do you need an operators licence for a private hire Vehicle?

So if I decided to move over to the PH side of life, and I got a ph drivers badge, and the council passed and plated my new skoda, and I joined discount cabs circuit, I would also need an operators licence for my car? as wll as discounts operators licence?

(not that I would, you understand....)

No you wouldn't because the company you work for has the operators licence. This is as I said before for the sole trader. If you moved over to ph (not that you would) and puchased a WAV and you were a sole trader your operators licence would be FOC instead of X amount of £s

I'd like to know the outcome of that, especially The Certificate of Professional Competence.

Then watch this space Mr BC.

I think the council want to publish a list of WAVs contact details, be they taxi or PH.

Clearly not all WAV PH owners will have PH op licenses, so the council is prepared to give them to those volunteers for nothing.

I very good idea IMO.

But your second statement isn't the same as your first.

All PH owners need to get work from a PH operator. And that includes themselves if they choose to have their own pH ops license.

Recommendation 9: That the Committee approves close circuit television shall be installed, operated and maintained in all hackney carriage and private hire vehicles, in accordance with the requirements of the Director of Environment, when a vehicle is presented for initial licensing, or renewal of vehicle licence, with effect from 1 April 2012. Proprietors shall ensure CCTV is operational when vehicle is hired and available for hire. CCTV records shall be retained for 28 days

Now I think that is a great thing, and will save a few jobs and possibly a stop a few nasty attacks.

But the only thing some can say about it is the cost.

One has to wonder what is the cost of losing your job through a false complaint, as happened in Southampton with the slag who shouted rape.

And I have to wonder how many dead cabbies would be alive today if they had CCTV. :?

I do agree with your comments, but I wonder if this condition were challenged in the courts, whether the courts would deem it a reasonable condition.

The council would have to present some very solid grounds why such a condition was necessary & therefore deemed reasonable.

I don't think it would be too difficult to have operating times made known to customers, do you?
