is it just a question that the 1847 Act says 'within the specified distance' so therefore everything outside isn't covered by the act or is there some case law that has examined that contention?

I think that has been changed to within the district or borough. i was reading this in the court case section a few days ago.

Which court case, Grandad? That's the information I'm looking for. We all know the legal position but we don't seem to be qualifying it with the known authority for the contention.

Thanks for that, Grandad. Very useful.

Next question:

Is there reported case law regarding recovery of 'extra charges' that are not on the tariff card? eg, tolls, parking, etc. which are incurred as part of the journey, possibly at the passengers behest?
