You'll find that in the exclusion clauses there's also the 24 hr exclusion in addition to the 7 day contracts.

Kevin I also run a Limo and exec Airport car alside my cab BUT both are registered as PH's and I have an operators licence for them. I have used the 7 day contract on several occassions but as your licenced anyway why not just plate your merc as PH and opt for not having crests, back plates etc due to wedding car / chauffeur and then your not likely to upset anyone.

I read several of these Airport Transfers Ads in my local paper everyweek and most of them are cabbies desperate for work and using an alternate form of advertising; although the rouges out there need reporting and taking of the road immediately. Personally I think there should be an auto driving ban of at least a year for anyone prosecuted but thats just me harping on again.

Off the subject but anyone looking for work could do no worse than look at taxi exchange,,,, free for a month then £20 per annum.

Hi tigger

I've not licensed the merc as private hire it means that I will have to get a licensed dirver to drive it. I've been looking for hc and ph drivers for 4 months now even offering £400 a week, but no takers.

So I run the merc as a limo hire service on a day hire basis only and employ a normal driver to drive it. It's all legal and legit.

It's the way that I will now be developing the business because no one wants to go through the aggrivation and expense of getting a taxi license any more.

Have tried reporting the above ad to ebay but the system doesn't allow you to explain what is wrong you get multiple choice answers and then can only email them the item number

have had further contact with Trevor, the guy advertising and he has withdrawn his ad from ebay, he has told me ,and i believe him, he was doing what another driver in his LA was doing, he is going to contact his LO and apply for relevant licences. I think it was just over enthusiasium, but like the last post said you should be able to report these r=things to ebay, but it seems they are only interested in money.

AND you still can't get any takers???? I obviously live in the wrong part of the country and should go back to my Hertfordshire / London roots!

Sorry to go off thread but I've just worked out how much I need to take to earn that amount a week and I'm not sure there are that many hours :? !

I did advertise with the Job Centre a couple of years back and they paid for the guy to get his badge but shhhhh!!!

Hi tigger

I'm in monmouth not herfordshire, when i first joined i was working in hereford hence the spelling mistake in my user name :)

Unfortunately ( or rather fortunately) Monmouth is a small communter town in wales that has very low unemployment rates which is why it's hard to get taxi drivers here. I'm already fully booked for Saturday night and almost booked up for friday.

It's great fun in the summer because we have a lot of wedding venues around here and visitors come down and ring up on Saturady night for a taxi the same night and the expect to get one

These big city folk have no idea about country living

Do you think people don't want to drive taxi/PH in your manor cos the money is pox?

Why not up your prices to encourage folks to join the gang?

Hi sussex

I did think about it know i've just bought a new car (save me a hundred quid swapping the meter over) but picking up off the street during the week is a lucrative thing.

We are on two major hiking routes and the tourists tend to jump in the taxis at the rank. Then they take a card and use you for the next two or three days to transport them around offas dike or the river wye walk. These tend to be pretty good fares a well. Plus the fact the town only has a bus to anywhere every couple of hours or so until sunset and then there's only the national express to cardiff at 8.50pm. It's amazing how many people miss the bus and have to get a taxi unless they want to wait a couple of hours or stay overnight.
