But I reckon our former trade colleague from the north believes that an operator who invests money in a vehicle and offers finance schemes to self employed drivers is a leech. This I dispute, in an open market any driver is more than capable of finding and financing his own vehicle.

Why would they hire them from operators if it was such a bad deal?

I couldn't agree more Tom, it is in fact Sussex who considers these people Leeches and I was only pointing out that councils could if they wanted to make it easier for people who can afford to buy vehicles the oppertunity to do so for those who can't.

His argument is contradictionary (how do you spell that  ) as he claims to want deregulation to get rid of this type of HC owner.

Yes.

I've no idea.

If they can't afford one, then they will have to rent or buy a PH saloon. I can't afford a Rolls Royce, but don't expect others to buy me one. I didn't write nor inact the DDA. It's here and that's that.

I don't think so.

Bloody Hell, some may say if you can't afford to buy a plate then you should rent or buy a PH saloon.

But thats not good enough for you, you don't care about your fellow drivers, you don't even care about the taxi using public you only care about getting what YOU want, thats not what the OFT investigation was all about you are just leeching off it to get something for nowt, something that others have had to invest considerable ammounts of money in.

Look you have owners that rent out vehicles in the PH trade, and the PH trade has no big bad quotas. Drivers have a choice.

In restricted areas, drivers have no choice other than pay tens of thousands for a plate.

In de-limited areas, taxi drivers have the same choice as PH drivers, to either buy or rent their own taxi vehicles. As you have done yourself.

You are starting to sound like the idiots from the London T&G, who want to force managed growth on the rest of us, but are happy as they are in the smoke.

Now what's that word begining with H? :?

I think you are agreeing with de-limitation in that rant.

Having first paid a premium for a plate   My WAV was bought off someone on our fleet who was giving up, I paid him what he owed on the finance deal he had signed.

"Having the choice" is something you rant on about all of the time but you fail to answer what you think you will gain from having a HC, particularly if it has to be a WAV.

B. Lucky

ps I bet you answer that you may not have to have a WAV.

He will gain by having a choice.
As most taxis and all PHVs have already.
Not exactly ground breaking.
Why shouldn't he have a choice?
