its a sad fact of todays life that prejudices do occur. I work for the ph company that was mentioned and i do admit myself that within certain circles i have heard there is a form of unfairness that rears its ugly head from time to time. The allocation policy has been into play for a year or so , before anyone could plot anywhere so long as you were with gph it was ok, some manager or policy maker introduced these measures and these are the results today. Sucks imo, and its prejudice in all its forms, hidden ofcourse in some silly little allocation policy.

What also speaks volumes about that firm, is where it was mentioned that only office cars can work the city centre.

i think what was mentioned was that all cars except kilo callsigns could work the city centre,, effectively defining a no asians policy within the city centre, unless ofcourse their is a shortage of drivers. I am rather surprised that no manager from said organisation has defended these allegations, unless ofcourse their finding it a tad difficult to defend the indefensible.

The whole saga about what cars pickup where all goes back to the days when the company was Mac Cars. The system is setup so that cars working the south of the river will get work from the city which takes them back south (or to other zones which nutral i.e. any car will get a job going that way). The same is setup for the cars going east, they will only be offered jobs which are heading back towards the east end.

I think that the person making the aligations should put them in writing and take it up with the manager at the company and get an explination of how the system dispatches work.

radioman that is ok if you have a driver that is from the southside and in that scenario the system works well, but i believe the whole issue was not only job allocation but also call sign allocation aswell. For the complainent who came here to state his concerns, he claims he is not from southside but rather , if anything more from the eastside, in which case he would find it decidedly inconvenient not only to his pocket but his time etc to be given a `k` sign,,which menat driving 7-8 miles or so every day once his shift is over etc,,i also think it is a good idea for him to ask the comitee for a call sign reflecting his needs,,im sure given the siruation they will oblige,,good luck,,,

Surely when you start from a new, then you aren't from East west or South?
As has been said, sounds dead iffy.
