£16,900, a week

Of course if Toots was doing the arithmetic it would be £1.9 million a week.

Pmsl lest we forget I make mistakes  If I was doing the math it would be £25,500 per week, but, then I would only be doing it for the company I work from :D

how does the website square with " private hire can't use taxi" legislation? In particular the home page PRIVATE HIRE TAXI'S and the logo clearly has a TAXI as a centrepiece. If that's on the cars, does it breech the law?

And this statement- Our vehicles have both Male and Female drivers.
How does that work?

Our company has the word 'taxis' in the company name lots of ph do, it's the vehicles it can't be on. There is nothing wrong with advertising that you have both male and female drivers, it's customer choice if they so wish to request a particular type of driver

I see the little joke went over your head Toots. The way it was interpreted was that you could have both.............at the same time.

thanks, grandad. I was afraid my humour would be too obtuse for early morning.

The company name thing, ok it's allowed, still think the logo may lead to a grey area (legally), if on the cars.

as ive said previously, i would be very happy to discuss any issues anyone has regarding 659 drivers or operations and running of the firm if only you would ring up and ask. we are trying to keep an honest firm and care very much about the behaviourof our drivers which is why we take accusations seriously as long as they are valid and not just heresay or guesswork. the bosses also care very much how drivers act and look after them, which is why the firm is as big as it is. this is also why we have a waiting list for drivers to join us. as for who i am, well if we wanted to broadcast who we were on here we wouldnt have usernames, we would all just be ourselves. if anyone saw me at the racecourse they will know exactly who i am without having to ask in this forum. i apologise if anyone is insulted or upset by anything i have put on here, and thank you for all the positive responses, i didnt think it would cause such a stir just asking the council for somewhere to pick up our lovely passengers. anyway i think the racecourse subject seems to be about exhausted as people seem to have turned to other issues now so thanks again, lovely talking to you all, keep up the good work

Most of us in the private hire trade in York are fed up of the attitude of 659, you come on here all high and mighty and then when things start hotting up you want to apologise and everyone to be friends, well start at the begining and stop picking up illegally then you may be accepted.

as reviously said, 659 are an honest firm and any drivers caught picking up illegally are sacked on the spot. we are not high and mighty we are just the same as any other firm trying to earn a crust and that includes the hackney drivers, when it comes down to it we are all people movers and all have families to support and are all doing our best to do that efficiently and with care. unfortunately we do get some bad eggs who are just greedy and selfish and spoil it for the rest and give bad reputations. we will keep trying to keep it good. stinky, you seem tohave an awful lot of issues with 659 so why dont you ring me and we can chat just dont think im a pushover though cos im far from that. i dont suppose youve worked for 659 have you?

I drive for 659, have done for a few years now, we have no need to pick up illigaly as we are a very busy company, all this sounds like sour grapes to me.

your boss dont care how these drivers earn their living, wots that 130 vehicals each paying 130 quid as subs, that equals roughly 13 thou a week, why should he care, he as other interests

I wonder if he declares a minimum turnover of £878,800 per annum less VAT to HMCR?

I wonder if he declares £130,886.77p per annum as Imput VAT to HMCR?

I wonder . . . . ?

I would stop wondering, you will give yourself a headache.

I prefer to wonder; it's thinking that hurts the head.

And the other benefit of wondering is that it takes you to far off places.

That's correct!!

And that's why Brum has just introduced the banning of the words 'Taxi', 'Cab' or 'For Hire', or similar, in any literatute, advertising, leaflets, business cards, billboards, signs above PH offices, etc, etc, in the new PH Operator, Proprietor & Driver Conditions due to come into force on 1st October 2010.

We have 93 taxis on our ph system that's almost a 1/3 of our fleet so if in Brum how would they be treated?

It's not sour grapes at all it is just getting the trade a bad name, if you do not pick up illegally, ask the guy with the silver people carrier who dropped 2 passengers at the hackney rank last Friday, he had stopped for them after being flagged and then when they wanted to go to Selby did not have time to take them, when they refused to get out he dropped them at the hackney rank, and my mate who is a hack, took them,
