MP's and central government need to look at this, surely if jobs are on offer its crazy to make someone unemployed wait 6-10 weeks whilst claiming benefits?

Agreed, however, what makes my situation worse is that I haven't, I've been living off my savings. :(

Cops can stop you in the street and radio for exactly the same info the DBS get, the difference is it takes 8 weeks via the DBS?.... i know the Royal Mail is slow but not that slow, the Police should run the service and send by return of post to the applicant once the form is checked

We have had letters from our council yesterday. They apparently have been issuing licenses before the DBS check has come back. They are now saying that they will no longer do this and drivers must ensure that they complete the forms on time.

Ours were renewing badges before the CRB was back, not sure now its a DBS but my badge expires in 4 days, my DBS went in on the 19th

I just have to wait, nothing more that I can do, thing that get's me is that at the initial stage of the process where they start to check "list99" etc. then if they had my wrong surname down as they did then when they started the process surly it would have come back at the very initial stage that "this person does not exist" the fact that it got to the final stage "certificate printed" and then was then and only picked up on about a name query is what's made it a pain in the ass for me......as I say, 10th June mine went in and was received by them....here we are now clocking into just about August. :?

Our LA/Council has a "DBS officer", I wonder what they get paid, what they do during the wait and if they had a DBS to get the job.........

oh don't say that mate, I'm running out of my savings, I had saved and saved over the years for electrical and holidays and kids and stuff, I would much rather be spending it on them than having to pay the mortgage, bills and what not, I've been a good boy and I'd put that money away for a "rainy day" just so happens that it's been raining for the last 8 weeks....LOL

Oh well, nothing I can do other than wait for that "certificate"

February you say....my that's a really long time that....

The chap here who sent the form off in May and has still not got it back, spoke to a policeman in town on Saturday. He gave him the direct line number of the chap who deals with DBS at Leics police. He rang him up yesterday morning and was told that Leics police received the form mid July and it was dealt with the same day. However because the chap is new to the area the form had to also be looked at by the police in the area he moved from, Hasting. The officer then chased this up and Sussex police said they had a huge backlog and his form was in the middle. The police officer explained about the job position and Sussex police moved the form to the top of the pile. The Leicestershire chap rang back yesterday afternoon to tell the driver that it had all been completed and sent back to Liverpool. He checked the website yesterday teatime and the certificate is out for printing. Lets hope he gets it by the weekend.
