What your up against with Railways and Airports is legislation that gives them the right to charge for parking on their land. They can also say who plies for hire on their land regardless of whether there is a Taxi rank there or not?

So when you look at the Railways and Airports situation it is their relevant acts of Parliament that we have to change and I personally cant see Railways and Airports standing still while a we do that.

It would be nice to slip a clause into the 1976 act which states

"All Taxi drivers shall have the right to ply for hire at all public ameneties and terminals free of any charge and whether on Private or Public land"? lol But it's not going to happen. So the sooner we realise that, the sooner we can move on and think of the best solution for all.

JD

Doesn't Carlisle station practice exclusion of some sort?

The rank at Carlisle station is outside station land, but there is a system in place that allegedly encourages people to purchase WAV's.

Makes little difference to me, most of my cabs are saloons
