And that's why Brum has just introduced the banning of the words 'Taxi', 'Cab' or 'For Hire', or similar, in any literatute, advertising, leaflets, business cards, billboards, signs above PH offices, etc, etc, in the new PH Operator, Proprietor & Driver Conditions due to come into force on 1st October 2010.

We have 93 taxis on our ph system that's almost a 1/3 of our fleet so if in Brum how would they be treated?

The wording is mainly on the PH Operator Licence, so they can't use those words.

Another PH Operator Condition of Licence is that they must answer the phone with the company name; 'Fred's Cars' or 'Toots's Tooters'.

No longer can they answer the phone shouting, 'Taski!'

It's not sour grapes at all it is just getting the trade a bad name, if you do not pick up illegally, ask the guy with the silver people carrier who dropped 2 passengers at the hackney rank last Friday, he had stopped for them after being flagged and then when they wanted to go to Selby did not have time to take them, when they refused to get out he dropped them at the hackney rank, and my mate who is a hack, took them,

Giving the trade a bad name? you mean like some drivers from every single PH company in York, like Getaway cars, streamline, beeline, ebor, telecars, A & D.
If ya gonna have a moan about illigal pick ups do it properly, dont just have a go at 1 company.
Your starting to sound like a 659 basher, = sour grapes.

I would but 659 is the only one dropping off illegal pick ups at a hackney rank and are you agreeing with me that it does go on

From your data heads you should know where every driver ‘s whereabouts at any given time, thats unless they log off, which i am led to believe this happens as all drivers can come and go at anytime, then say to yourself why have i got cars sitting in a busy street without jobs, they shouldn’t be there
With the new autocab system to which i am led to believe are to be fitted to all your vehicle including built in taxi meter via gps, have heard this is on hold until the council can see or get software to check the gps taxi meters

So it could be said that unless the driver logs off to do that illegal pickup you should know where everyone is, with the new system of autocab isnt it possible to bring up everything on the computer even tho the driver is logged off and even where his vehicle is

Lets play fair, then we will come to like you and accept you as a decent PH firm

Spoke with him again, was a silver car on a temporary plate, two weeks ago on Saturday night about midnight.

mmm was it last friday, or 2 saturdays ago? why don't ya go find something else to moan about, like how crap ranks are these days.
You also have to remember, if it wasnt for PHV bringing people into town, you would have sod all to do at closing time...

With all due respect I am getting this information second hand, we all know it's going on, and again you will deny that which is understandable as you are on the side of PHV which indeed am I as I drive for a private hire firm. I am somewhat intrigued by your signature which says you are a licensed hackney?

on the last evening of the last race meeting, it was witnessed that a silver 5/6 seater may have been a Kia with 659 stickers was flagged at the traffic lights on Blossom St coming into town in the middle lane, 5 in siuts flagged down this PH and he waited at the lights whilst they got in

not rocket science but that is illeagal

and your 100% rock-solid SURE they were not his passengers and pre-booked, if so how?

Oh right, I also hear alot of things second hand to do with both sides of the trade, but I take it with a pinch of salt, lots of BS gets spread around York, it gives the Hackneys something to do when the have nowt to do.
Oh yeah I have tried it, but you get a better class of drunk in a PHV, ie they are actually capable of using a mobile phone. haha.

Conversation between an operator and a customer (perhaps)

Hello 659 how can we help you

Could I have a cab please for 5 people from Blossom Street.

Yes we usually pick up in the middle lane of traffic, he will be along shortly

ok thank you I will keep a look out for him

that is possibly how stinky knew it wasn't pre booked.
