The confusion here seems to be over what needs to be logged or recorded.

After all, an HC could be doing pre-booked work all night without actually writing down anything, and perfectly legally?

If the driver has a mind like a computer.

Why?

You mean a driver taking jobs from an office on an old-fashioned two-way radio all night couldn't do this without writing anything down?

Of course they could. So what's the huge difference between that and taking calls on a mobile phone? The driver could easily keep a handful of bookings in his head, and won't need to remember a large number of jobs because people won't wait that long anyway.

And the chances are that a driver operating in this way will rarely get more than a couple of calls at the same time anyway, unless of course his name is skippy. :D

Surely you're capable of recalling the details of the last handful of jobs you took off the street, so why couldn't you do this with pre-booked jobs?

Are you sure you're a cab driver, Brummie?

If you had a number of bookings coming in throuighout the day all for the evening and night shift, including returns!!!

You appear to have this air about you that seems to say to us all, "I am considerably superior than yow!"

Well they'll naturally be written down at some point in the proceedings, but you seem to be presupposing several vehicles - which would clearly make things more difficult - whereas the initial question seemed to be about a one driver operation, and most bookings tend to be there and then rather than booked for a later time, so don't need to be written down, and a one driver operation could easily organise several there and then jobs in his mind without writing anything down, surely?

Clearly it will depend on each operation precisely how they work and to what extent they can get away without recording too much, but the fact is that it does happen.

Gosh, you really don't like people having an opinion that conflicts with your own, do you, or anyone who proffers facts that are at odds with your world view. I think it's you that has the problem with a superiority complex.

Of course, your opinion of people depends largely on the big issue, doesn't it, so no surprise there then. Indeed, your hardly the first of that ilk on here, and you won't be the last either.

Anyway, I'll resist the temptation to go down to your level and get too personal, but now seems an appropriate point to bid the forum farewell. Again. :D

Rightly or wrongly you should never throw the towel in. We will all have a conflict of opinion, but no one should ever drive you out. He may be right, you may be right (whatever), have your differences of opinion..........but no toys out of the pram!

Which Uni?

Which faculty?

Mr Caledonian Cabbie isn't studying for a Licensing Degree is he?

FFS!!! He could be our licensing officer some time soon and then he could be looking for me when he is.

Not upset or touchy; if people don't like me then that's their problem, but I just can't be bothered engaging in pointless debates marred by your kind of totally unnecessary remark above.

In fact this reminds me of last time round, when Cabbyman threw his toys out of the pram and apparently it was me who provided the "straw that broke the camel's back".

Funny that when I asked him to clarify this there was no response, and I'm still waiting more than six months later

In fact I take stuff like this as an unintended compliment, so thanks :D

You debate robustly and legibly and that's an asset to TDO.

I also debate robustly as do many others.

I've had bust ups with other, but rarely hold a grudge either on TDO or in life generally.

And what's to like about any posters on TDO, very few have met anyone on the Forum. I've met only one member, so who klnow who, to like them?

Just chillax man, chillax!!
