Conditions Attached to Operators Licence
1. An Operator shall not invite or accept a booking for a Private Hire Vehicle, or control or arrange a journey to be undertaken by such vehicle, without first making available in writing, or giving orally, to the person making the booking information as to the basis of charge for the hire of the vehicle.
2. Every Operator who accepts a booking for a Private Hire Vehicle for an appointed time and place shall allow sufficient time for the vehicle to punctually attend.
3. Only Ashfield District Council licensed vehicles and drivers may be booked for any journey.
4. When an Operator is unable to fulfil a booking due to unforeseen circumstances, it must only be passed onto another Ashfield District Council licensed Operator.

The above is from the Ashfield web site

After reading the conditions I thought this was quite amusing, joint operations do they really think that they won't use vehicles licensed in another area?

General Information

Private Hire Vehicle Operators must make provision for hire vehicle bookings to be made in Ashfield. This could be an office or a free phone. Where the operation is a joint operation with another authority the two operations must be operated independently.

I think all the above just confirms that very few councils have a clue about the proper workings of the 1976 act, in relation to operator licensing, and the cross border issue.

Along side most firms and drivers.
