If i won a tender off LCC then didnt replate or badge, but created myself as a "volunteer service" i bet they would take the work off me...

That would depend if they checked. I have seen many unplated cars picking up at schools, and no they are not parents.

the way it reads...

8 months work just on fridays?

aso for a syston based volunteer....

syston-melton-syston (wait and return)

thats only 20 miles (total)

and 1 extra trip (a one-off) melton - loughborough, out am, back pm

thats a total of 18+18 back, same in the afternoon (72 miles)

as thats a 1 off i imagine its just inc in the regular friday price

ignore that 1 x 72 miles and you get £40 for a 20 mile wait and return

thats £2 a mile

but is the driver only getting 40p, and the "non-profit making" organisation blagging the rest?...

if the drivers only getting the "40p" per mile x 20 = £8

The way you read it is incorrect.
This was a pick up in Syston on Friday 23rd April and take to Victor Avenue, which is a respite centre where people with learning difficulties go foe short breaks.
Then on the 26th April there is the take and return to Loughborough.
Finally there is the return to Syston on Friday 30th April.

As I said earlier, I spoke to someone at County Hall and according to them the job was not actually awarded to Voluntary Action Melton.
This could be because the council realised that to award the contract would be illegal or it could be that the service user did not require the transport in the end. I will continue digging on Tuesday.

LCC need to work on the detailing of jobs then

it reads like a wait and return

"arrive 18.00 leave 18.00 "short stay" and back"

either way, its way more than 40p a mile

Volunteer Action melton shouldnt even be on th etendering list for work when LCC APPEAR to insist on plated vehicles only

and if NOT awarded, who put it as won on the results webpage, when others appear as "not let"........

stinks

Hopefully I may have some answers next week. I had our Licensing officer in the car earlier and she has already had an email about this and will hopefully also be looking into it next week.

From the 08-09 report

Quote:
Highlights of 2008/2009 include:

• Taking delivery of our 2 new vehicles – the community minibus and a wheel chair accessible vehicle in July 2008 and our official launch of these in September 2008. Over 90,000 miles have been driven by dedicated volunteers and VAM drivers in the year

Quote:
Within our Social Car Scheme, we have achieved over 7000 passenger journeys which equates to nearly 90,000 miles. This could not be achieved without the continued hard work, support and commitment from the volunteers and staff that work within the Transport Scheme. My gratitude and thanks to all involved.

The bookings for the Community Minibus have increased significantly this year, with several local groups and new organizations benefiting from this service.

Quote:
18 volunteer drivers and staff attended a First Aid Training Course in September at Voluntary Action Rutland. The course was run by a working paramedic and was very informative and presented in an interesting style, which was well received by all.

Its a real scunner....they Use drivers without a PH or a Hack licence...they use Minibus drivers that didnt need to pass a PCV test for a D1 licence..

They purchase new vehicles with ease and pay their lackies 40 per mile..Minibuses probably with all the best wheelchair ramps and stuff.

How In fechs name can they do all that for 40ppm ???

I purchased a brand new 16 seat minibus 5 years agao...I asked to see if there was any grants or subsidies locally or nationally for to put a wheelchair lift in it....the answer was No..

I spent a wee fortune on PSV driver training to pass my D1 about £600...out of my own pocket.

I Had to pay a 5 years operators licence which wasnt cheap ..abut £500

and if I still drove that minibus id have to fork out around £1300 for 36 hours of CPC training every 5 years

and to top it off Id to Insure aforesaid Minibus at a cost of £1700 back then..

So..........why should Volunteer groups become exempt from the kind of financial pain i had to endure to run a Minibus.....and how can they afford to buy them, run them and man them off the back of 40PPm.

They must be charging more or theyed be bankrupt in no time...

The Maths just dont add up....nor does the fairness of the whole rotten scheme... eusasmiles.zip

If this government is so committed to Health and safety and adhering to EU directives and such likes.....How can they let unqualified drivers drive Minibuses with so many people on board..its just not safe.

Midas is just a Pat on the back good driver scheme..it is not and never will be a D1 licence, you cant fail it..you just get it...however that may all change with the grandfather clauses dying out and younger drivers needing a D1 licence for 9 passengers or more...

Heres a link to Midas...its a non qualification...you turn up..do the time..get the certificate..
