We have had out hackney cabs increased from 450 to over 900 in the space of three years.

Now Cardiff is not a massive place but seems to have everything and is basically compact - loads of shops with more being built and plenty of pubs restaurants and night clubs.

The trouble is this, whenever we have commented to the LA about the plates they keep issuing, they refer to the police and say that it is they who will stop the licensing/issuing if it becomes a problem!

As I said 900 plates, admittedly they are not all out there at once but certainly enough to say that there is NO unmet demand, and to compound the problem we probably only have less than 50 ranking spaces if that throughout the City. The consequence being is that we have literally nowhere to go as most of the City centre is double yellow lined so we are constantly being moved on by the police leaving us with nowhere to go except to drive around in circles.

Sooo they seemingly have control over the license issue which has not been stopped, and then they are moaning about the fact that we are parked everywhere - just exactly where do we go from here as it is a form of police harassment although I am sure that it is not intentional.

Yes I know but everytime it is raised they pass the buck and claim that it is down to the police.
