The PCO have kindly given a breakdown showing how the tariff is calculated. http://www.transportforlondon.gov.uk/pc ... s-2004.pdf One question for the London boys, and anyone else for that matter, is why are the knowledge costs taken into account?

So drivers that passed their KOL 20/30 years ago are profiteering now then?
I also very much doubt that any other hackney carriage fare in the country has a part of it relating to study costs.

If HC drivers wanted to include "training costs" in my area they'd be lucky to get 0.0001p per mile, so its not really worth it is it. Sussex giving HC drivers a hard time seems to be something he enjoys, I have no idea why

Covering your costs is one thing, ripping the [edited by admin] is another.
If a London driver takes £750 a week (very conservative in my mind), then over a period of 30 years, the knowledge surcharge amounts to nearly £60,000.
