Nice snazzy brochure, and some PH might even take up the offer.

So what they are saying is you can tout (cherrypick) during rush hours but any other time your insurance is invalid. The DFT want hanging by the plebs for the problems they cause. This has got to be a windup. Dont tell GBC ffs.

:lol: Rules to apply say you could issue tickets,magic. That obviously means you will be required to issue tickets set at the council's tarrif. Don't we get fined for stopping in bus stops or is this going to be excused. No wonder nobody knows what the heck we can and can't do. Can you imagine the RTA,s caused by drivers racing to bus stops to get the customer first. Then there's the cracker of when the three grannies who jump in your car then proceed to flash there bleeding bus pass. Deffo a wind up or if not it's the authorities way of getting rid of more bus routes that we the tax payer are still subsidising even after privatisation doing them a favour by using us suckers to make them money when it suits them.

I'm sure private hire will note your comments, and heaven forbid if a PH firm knows a few old ladies with bus passes.....they wont even have to switch their engines on to claim money?

Depends on the traffic order, but if you are dropping or picking up, can't see it.

ok....are we talking a few pence in savings...or are we talking all fuel duty and then buying fuel at a 1/4 of its overly Taxed price?

Im guessing theses busses that run around here empty for the most part must be making their money somewhere, Id find it difficult to believe that the money they make is purely from Passenger fares as they dont have to many passengers onboard, be interesting to find out just how it works?

The information is all available. I have been looking into it a little and basically if you have say a school run to a school say around 20 miles away, you can't claim the duty back for that journey. However if you register the return journey, which you would be comming back empty, this journey then qualifies for the rebate. Now because you have registered this journey you can now claim the duty for the school run because this would be the dead miles getting to your registered route. :mrgreen:

That was just an example. Any regular run will do.
