Our licensing authority seem to think that it would be a good idae if we were to pay for two taxi marshals to look after the public waiting outside our private hire office. We only have a small waiting room so most customers prefer to stand outside when waiting.

They have them on the ranks in the main town. We have a PH office in a satellite town and get a bit busy now and again. I would like to say that we dont get too much trouble and it probably does not warrant what they are suggesting. It is an expense we could well do without.

Is there any way they can make it a condition of our operator licence or could it affect our planning permission etc?

Thanks in advance for your input.

The council can make any condition a 'condition of license', but it would have to be deemed fair and reasonable.

In my view it would be better for the council to make it a planning issue.
