Driver wanted, will have to wait 3 months while CRB get thier finger out, if thats ok?

So i cant expand cos no-one WOULD wait 3 months to start, and contracts wont wait while i get a driver

sometimes i think the dole/sick is a good option

if i get snapped speeding the ticket arrives in days, they want my licence in days and they chase me.........in days

a CRB is only a printout of info held on 1 or 2 computers, why does it take so long? especially when the £10 police record version is exactly the same?

a passport check, and a police record printout and a national insurance number should suffice, god knows what the new thingy/system is like

and another thing, my LA insists badges be handed in when a driver stops working for any reason, so even getting a driver with a current badge isnt an option, if he aint driving hes lost his badge!

Mostly crb and when it was all back the council said 10 working days to issue add a few bank holdays and weekends in that becomes more than 2 weeks nearer 3. Concils dont care its only a taxi driver.

Its Symptomatic of modern British government and local authority dogma.

They adopt a "Screw them and lets make it as difficult as we can" attitude towards us which makes doing Business in Britain nigh on impossible....yet they forget without a successful private sector there can be no cushy public sector..

Its an Odd mentallity but thats how it is!!!

1 man or woman off the dole is a triumph in todays economic climate, why cant HMG be on the same wavelength, i could put a driver in a van delivering to schools, hospitals and HMP in minutes, but i cant set a taxi driver on for 3 months?

I am about to go through that process with a neighbouring council to become dual licensed & they only accept CRBs up to three months old from the date of issue.

Luckily mine is.

I'm pleased that they will except an old CRB from you, but doubt the legality of that. :?

but why so long?

theres actually no real reason is there

1. You fill the form in and hand it back to the Council.

2. The form will be put into a pile waiting to be sent to the mail room then to Liverpool.

3. The staff at the CRB office will open the letter and put it all down on paper and send it to your local Police HQ.

4. When it gets to the Police HQ they'll hand it to the CRB officer who will put it in a pile waiting to be dealt with.

5. When he's finally got to your form he'll do a PNC check on your name.

6. He'll put this all down on paper and send it back to Liverpool.

7. Liverpool will put it on some nice green paper and send it back to you and your Council.

In a nutshell it's a glorified paper trail with a PNC check added by the Police which will cost £10 at the most.

This is why it takes so long.

Your right there. My mate got a job delivering meat to schools and prisons all over the UK. He went for the interview on the Monday and started on the Tuesday morning. He didn't have any CRB check he just shown his licence.

if hes stopped driving for any time/reason he has to hand his badge in....even if it has 11 months to run

so its all back to square one....

how do immigrants get a badge? (immigrants EU or NON-EU), how can CRB checks guarantee they arent a) the worlds worst driver from khazakstan, or b) a sex offender from somalia

I didn't mean bored cos they've stopped driving, I meant bored cos it's quiet so they should still have their badge :D
