A colleague of mine has received a parking ticket while he was on DYL awaiting a pre-booked fare.

What are we permitted a)in law and b)as reasonable practice, when picking up or setting down in restricted streets?

We are outside London.

Your views appreciated.

As long as is reasonably necessary is the norm.

But defining reasonably necessary legally is the usual problem.

If your colleague feels agrieved, he should appeal the ticket, with a series of rapid letters.

He must have been waiting more than five minutes as they need to view it that long for a ticket to be issued.

In some areas the trade have got their act together and arranged a 15 minute grace period whilst waiting for a job, providing the meter is on.

He should defo appeal the ticket.
