A colleague of mine has received a parking ticket while he was on DYL awaiting a pre-booked fare. What are we permitted a)in law and b)as reasonable practice, when picking up or setting down in restricted streets? We are outside London. Your views appreciated. |

As long as is reasonably necessary is the norm. But defining reasonably necessary legally is the usual problem. If your colleague feels agrieved, he should appeal the ticket, with a series of rapid letters. |

He must have been waiting more than five minutes as they need to view it that long for a ticket to be issued. In some areas the trade have got their act together and arranged a 15 minute grace period whilst waiting for a job, providing the meter is on. He should defo appeal the ticket. |
