At the last unmet demand survey carried out by Halcrow, it was decided that 15 more Hackney Licenses needed to be issued to meet unmet demand, when these were issued to people on the waiting list, 3 of the 15 immediately sold them and carried on renting, why?

If someone left you a house in their will, would you sell it, live in it or rent it out?

Same sort of logic, and clearly different people will take different courses of action.

An added factor here though is that perhaps they took the view that derestriction was a possibility within a year or two, in which case an immediate sale was the best option.

Maybe council should put resrictions on future plates issued stating that it cannot be transferred ! If you dont want it hand it back to council so they can issue it to someone who wants to earn a living and not a quick buck, few thousand bucks actually !!! Shoul;d ave been done from day 1.

The gov would have to change national law first.
