Kin ell, I've just added up the amount the bus companies get round here and it comes to £8,401,456.47p. That's a serious amount of £££ each year to the bus companies. Add it to their fuel duty rebate every quarter and that adds up to some cash coming through the doors.

£619,376.49 here but there appears to be some missing

The buses out here in the stix get chunky subsidies too...theres bugger all carbon friendly about them as usually the damn things are empty or near empty and a lot of them serve routes that hardly anybody lives near.

Seems Crazy to subsidise a naturally unprofitable service that is probably about the least Eco friendly form of transport in this area only because it appears to make the regional council a trendy environmental champion...utter waste of money IMO...!!!

May well be different in the Towns though...profitabe even!

I've yet to see a bus with more than a half dozen people on it after the rush hour home. I often see double deckers with one person on them. It would make much better sense to use smaller vehices, even the single deck buses seem too big most of the time

If they get subsidies then nothing more than £1.50.

If you want to see subsidies on a grand scale you need to come and see the night buses in Mansfield, they are running with 2 and 3 people on board.

That should save the Planet....3 people on a bloody great bus!!!

id charge £3 for upto 4 people....

All are double deckers.
