Got the car tested for a re licence, phoned to make an appointment and was told the lady that deals with it is on the sick so you will have to wait till she comes back, so i asked for another LO and was told he is working from home and we are not sure whwn he is back. So what happens if i get caught using the vehicle ??

Perhaps you should quote The Local Government Act 1999 to your Licensing Department. This act is commonly known as The 'Best Value' Act. Here is an extract from the Introduction to this Act & some of the requiremants;

Best value is about delivering commitments for service responsiveness, efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility at the local level in order to make life better for people and for business. Town Council Members and Officers recognise that best value is more than a periodic challenge. They recognise its potential for delivering substantial change and delivering real improvements.

I believe your licensing department are contravening this Act!!

They have a duty to license you.

Ring your local councillor tonight and ask him what you are supposed to do.

All these daft plate rules over the Border, why don't councils down there do what ours do, once you have been issued a plate its yours and it stays on the cab, if you get a new vehicle you just transfer it yourself after dropping off the paperwork and fee
If the council are doing there jobs there is no need for an expiry date and a new plate every year

Our lot don't believe in the Best Practice act.
