So. When a driver of an E7 (or similar) taxi loads seven passengers into his vehicle, lets say for the sake of an argument, a family of two adults and five children, would the authorities consider it to be overloading if all the passengers were in the rear passenger compartment, with no one in the front passenger seat? I would contend that this indeed did would be overloading in that there were seven passengers in a compartment designed to carry six, and no different from the sad case of a driver of a five seat taxi who lost his livelihood due to another driver reporting him to the council. Any E7 drivers out there who think otherwise? |

I've never had seven passengers in my E7, but when I do, one will have to be in the front seat, to remain legal. |

If your Squeezing 7 arses on 6 seats then it must be illegal....as their Would'nt be enough seatbelts for all those seated. then again if the compartment is designed for 7 arses then its ok...except that technically the spare front seat would make it an 8 passenger seater and not 7!! Seeeeeeeeeeemple ...

What if the two adults had a baby each on their lap, and the other three children who were of seat belt age were belted up then that would leave a spare seat in the back. The bottom line is that all people who would warrant a seat belt must have one, but whatever happens you must NOT exceed the amount of passengers on your plate/insurance. |

I drive a 7 seat E7 and would not under any circumstances carry more than 6 people in the back no matter what ages. There are 6 seats and 6 seatbelts, I am pretty sure there would be insurance implications in the event of an accident if I had more. |

I have a new E7, licensed for 7 passengers, nowhere does it say only 6 in the back, so if like the situation you described, 2 adults with small babes on knee and 3 others all strapped in, I see no reason why they all can't be in the back. Indeed it may well be safer, lets say both adults have 1 year old twins and 4 year old triplets, as we all know 1 year olds are not able to support a normal seat belt, you can't ask 4 year olds to hold on to a baby, so safer having them all in the back, as far as I know there is no rule that says you can only have 6 in the back, just all must be wearing seatbelts if appropriate. |

you still have to provided one belt per person so if 7 are in the back only 6 belts are available one person has no access to a belt. its down to the customer to use them but if 7 are in the back only 6 could possibly use a belt if they chose to........... |

You have to ask who actually has a child seat in their cabs that are fit for a baby/small child, the nearest that I ever got to that was when I had a TX1 with a booster seat! for certain the parents do not carry one unless it is a carry cot. All I am doing is saying how I think that we are covered, but not necessarily what is right or how it should be. |
