Taxi Driver Online

If my PH driver licence is suspended and my PH vehicle licence is suspended at the same time. Can I drive my vehicle for personal use?

Not until the license is revoked IMO, but it's not common to lose both at the same time.

More details would be appreciated.

You would have to take the plates off, and have a private MOT.

It either has a licence in force or it doesn't.

And if it already has an MOT, then the DfT / VOSA / DVLA don't distinguish whether it is a council MOT station or a private MOT station.

It has an MOT.

Most LA certificates are not MOT's. They are certificates of compliance, which allow a section 50 exemption from an MOT as long as the plates are fitted. Plates removed no certificate of compliance. No MOT

Every car on the UK roads needs an MOT if its over 3 years Old....if it has a Valid MOT it will have one until its due again..Plates or No Plates..

Tom2907 is correct. I have NO MoT.

The exemption means the "Plates" are de facto the MoT, though it could be argued I suppose that the exemption certificate is also the MoT. This is what I produce to get the Road Tax.

However, if not "Plated" the vehicle is not entitled to the exemption.

So, when all is said and done, at the end of the day AND the bottom line is, NO plate you need an MoT. Do not use the car until you have one.

20-30 years ago we too had Exemption Certificates.

But for as long as I can remember we have had MOTs & so have all the surrounding LAs.

The car is MOT'd as part of the taxi test every year.

I think im right but to test a car the test station MUST log into the VOSA database+system and has 45 minutes to complete the test and issue a pass or fail. the old days of Certs of Compliance are long gone, if he wasnt issued with one (MOT) he only has to request a copy from the station giving date and reg number, copies used to cost £10

I always get one as you can then do Road Tax on line

You have to look at this from two sides.. if you didn't have a MOT you could not use it... as the law of the land... But you do.. so you can.
the other side is that you're vehicle is licensed as a private hire vehicle... and the only person that can drive it is a licensed driver... but you have stated that the local authority have suspended the licence for two weeks... so it is an ordinary unlicensed vehicle... and they cannot prosecute you. not their jurisdiction...
