Interesting letter in last night's local paper. It was about people slagging off Dundee, which isn't an unusual subject for a letter in the Eveneing Tele, but one point caught my eye:

Don’t feel like poor relations

I AGREE wholeheartedly with the sentiments of letter writer Rosslyn Clark. All Dundonians should have more pride in our city.

It is at the forefront of medical research, a seat of learning for thousands, has a diverse multicultural population and a proud and interesting history.
The nightlife and shops are now on a par with any other city and superior to many.

The main problem is that Dundonians feel like poor relations to others, or at least act like they are. We should be extremely proud of where we are from.

Taxi drivers who badmouth the area should have their badges taken from them until they learn that we are all in this together.

Make Dundee a great place for visitors and those who live in the area. — The Bonnet.

I do have a tad of sympathy with a view like that.

Although the easiest thing in the world is to slag something off, let's remember that the tourist trade pays a lot of our bills.

In other words just lie and tell people your place is the dogs doodars.

Dont agree sussex.

Tell them the truth, most local authoritys spend thousands promoting their area, how much do they put back into the local trade?

How much do they pay barristers to defend undefendable decisions?

Its your money too, now theres a motto most LA's dont understand

There's a big difference between showing your area in a good light, when perhaps you shouldn't, and showing your council in a good light, when they are a shower of s***.

Punters come to your area to see many things, not often it's the council.

like that is it, allow solicitors but not licensed drivers.

Pity that, at least your showing an element of pride in the vehicle you are using to convey members of the public.

Well done.

Now boys calm down,or no lollipops from uncle paul.
You will always get the poor down trodden cabby, but we have to try and keep our views to our own and when the tourist is in our cabs, give out all the positives about our towns and cities.
Dundee is a lovely place with a lot going for it and a positive attitude should be given out.
However the Dundonian(hang them high)to take the badges of the grumppy drivers,no.
Just jail them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
