 Post subject: Six turns per hour !!!!

According to the latest review of the review etc etc drivers in London use the turning circle six times per hour. :shock:

But my money is on the alternatives getting the chance, even if it has to be a judge making the final decision. :shock:

Only six turns per hour? The turning circle is not just about U-turns, real taxi drivers use the magic manoeverability all the time. I know maggie said "the lady's not for turning", but purpose built taxi's are!

But didn't the Transport Research mob say that the U-turn was dangerous?

So in effect they are saying that London Cabbie do six un-safe manoeuvers per hour. :shock:

If a U-turn is dodgy, what about a breadvans (oops sorry, purpose built) 3,4, or 5 point turn?

Is it being suggested here that vehicles with a greater turning circle than 25 feet are SAFER because they have to do a three point turn? Please do not tell me that this is the case I know of one breadvan driver who was in a fatal collision whilst doing a U-turn. How can comparisons be made in London of the "safety" or otherwise of E7's when none are licensed there? So, Question to any E7 (or similar) driver out there, when did you last turn your vehicle to be facing in the opposite direction, or do you go a mile out of your way to use a roundabout? Tell the truth now, no fibs...

It has been proved by the professionals (Transport Research mob) that doing a U-turn is dangerous, be it a 25 foot one, or a 25 yard one.

Thus saying that a vehicle is better for the public because it's able to do more dangerous manoeuvres, seems to me a little bit daft.

All that aside, why shouldn't the lads in London and elsewhere have a choice of what to drive. If they don't like the bread vans, then they wont buy them. :shock:

Hey Jimbo, i note your location is shown as ' Lincoln', that one heck of a commute to Holloway Road from there, even with a tight turning circle.

Your correct in stating the turning circle is handy, but not £8K handy, the rest of the traffic in London survive just fine, so will the E7.

As i've said before if the LTI product is superior to the alternatives, LTI will continue to dominate, but as the alternatives get nearer, and they will appear one day, all i hear from LTI is this unadultarated crap about 'icon', 'turn on a sixpence', 'traditional pbt' etc, missing out of course on all the nightmare storys about their Ford Transit (plumbers) van engines.

Still time will tell, but I think you know as well as I do there will be E7's sharing the ranks soon.
