a refreshing change. Changes to taxi and ph vehicle testing in Lincoln means a reduction in costs. Last year, two vehicle tests at only council approved testing station, £68x2+£30 mot= £166. This year, two tests/combined mot a total of £70. a choice of approved stations, so no more "a week on tuesday" test dates. Well done, City of Lincoln council. (conservative)

Do you mean that the test is not an MOT, as that's basically what they consist of |

Apart from checking bodywork for dents, paintwork for blemishes, a first aid kit and fire extinguisher, that the vehicle isnt dirty outside, the vehicles interior is clean and free from ripped seats and headlinings, the meter is accurate and so on? CC |

a "compliance" test here at the mot test station can include an mot for £3 annual test/plate £120 i think |

Does a compliance test not cover you for mot ? We only have compliance tests now,dropped the mot |

no, they do a compliance test to see we.....er, comply its at a test centre, if we have a current MOT (or vehicle is less than 3 years old) no MOT is required BTW, the tester still has to raise an MOT for the VOSA database (and ultimately the cops ANPR system, to avoid getting a tug) |

youve had an MOT - as required for all CARS over the age of 3 if you were to de-plate mid-term you would need an proper MOT certificate to drive on the road, the test centre would then have to print one off or test it again (at your cost) as a compliance certificate would only apply to a taxi in use, or at least that was the procedure when i was a hack, and de-plated a vehicle but kept it for own use i bet if you ask the test centre they would say the vehicle has been MOT-tested as normal but your LA wants a compliance testcertificate for thier own barmy reasons. |

the interims wont be full tests though, just your LAs idea of pain, even heavy goods and coaches only have 1 test a year but have 6 weekly inspections - but they arent carried out by test centres |

Id like to bet.......(would be fun to know)... If you went to your test centre with your last annual test date+reg and asked for a copy of your MOT and paid a tenner, you could check online with VOSA - your MOT history is available online, I bet your interims dont show up |

All three tests are the same though done at the councils testing station.If under 5 years 1 test a year,under 10 2 tests and over 10 3 tests. |

yes, i know that, BUT i bet the centre wasnt logged into VOSA as they must be for an MOT, then again, you havent paid for 3 MOTs have you the interims, did they do brake and emissions test?....they are usually just "general condition" and may not even be MOT failures if you fail, just council plate condition failures (as dreamed up by councils) |

CC Our shower don't do that, plenty of cars have gone through these past few months with damaged panels after accidents. Many cars get through with ripped interiors, holes in seats, ripped carpets, damaged headlining etc etc. |

No all three tests are full strict tests,full council stuff, and emissions rolling road brake tests ect ect.Wish it was just mots there a doddle compared to these. |
